Pièce de résistance – our custom clip design
The clip is first cut out of 1.5mm sterling sheet of Argentium. The pattern for milling machine is 2x the actual clip. In order to engrave the clip, it is glued to a metal block.
Here is a sample piece and we are engraving the clip pattern on it. Once the clip is engraved, it is mounted into a bending jig to make the clip shape.
The same German company that made the ornamental engraving machine to decorate the silver pen barrels also makes the machine that engraves the clips. You can see the similarities. The wheel in the lower left corner moves the piece up and down as it follows the engraving pattern.
